"You are quite welcome. We love performing for our friends." Johvan said.
Not so subtly, Rom told Mel, "We like it better when we're paid." Mel giggled.
"Well, we're doing fine, we can tell the news to an old friend."
The sun was dipping close to the horizon, and Lena yawned cutely. Seren lifted her down from the stage and gently pushed her towards the tents. "Go to bed, sleepyhead."
Rishu was already asleep, his bowl having been emptied four times throughout the course of the chant. He snored gently. From nowhere, a dog had appeared and was sleeping on the boy's lap. The dog snored too. One of the bowlfuls had gone into the dog's belly, and he seemed quite content.
Rom snickered. "That boy always manages to find a mangy friend."
Barott had his violin again, and he was standing off to one side. He began to play gently, not to disturb his companions but merely to calm them and soothe them for a good night's sleep.
Mel yawned and stretched. "Come on, Rom, let's get ready for bed. Good night, Mr. Almasy."
"Oh, yeah. Good night, good night. Don't let the bugs bite." Rom followed her sister.
Seren and Johvan began collecting the dishes from around the camp and putting them in the crate. Johvan peeked into the stewpot. "Wow, we ate nearly all of that stew. It looks like there's about one more scoopful," he told Seifer. "Would you like it?"
"I'm doing the dishes tonight," Seren told Johvan.

/me Seifer smiled at the offer.
"Thank you but no. But I will help with the dishes before I head into Tempra, A small repayment for the honor bestowed upon me tonight. Adn I shall spread word of your arrival so many people will come to see you perform. But none shall know what as said. Only that the Entertainers of Holodrum have returned to dance and make merry once more."

Seren grinned. "Sounds great. Thanks for the offer, but we don't really need the help... I just have to take these to the creek to wash."
"Wait a second," Johvan was drinking the last of the stew, using the ladle. "Don't want it to go to waste." Then he lifted the pot and handed it to Seren, who shifted the crate to one shoulder. "Off you go."

/me Seifer nods to Seren.
"As you wish. Thank you for the good night. And goodnight to you all. Now I must head into Tempra to inform the King of my return. I shall see you all again soon."
/me Seifer smiles and bows to them all again, then turns and heads towards the town gate.

Seren watched Seifer's back for a moment, then murmured to Barott, "He stayed to speak to us before going to see the King? How interesting." Barott nodded, lowering his violin. Johvan was kicking dirt on the fire, banking coals for the next morning. Seren stood still for a moment longer, then started walking toward the creek. Barott raised the violin once more and Johvan picked up his son, carrying him towards their tent. The dog raised his head, but seemed fine with laying by the wheel.
The girls returned from the stream and went into the wagon, there was some movement and whispering, but then they were still. The dog beat it's tail against the wagon, but then went back to snoring. Johvan began to snore softly, and Barott played just a little louder.
Eventually, Barott lowered his violin for the last time, and went to his tent.
The camp was silent.
Finally, Seren came back, putting the clean dishes by the fire. He stretched and smiled. This was his favorite time of day - when everyone was just going to bed and the night was just waking up. He crossed to the wagon and sat against the other wheel, putting his sword in an easy-to-reach position. He put his hands on his knee and looked at the last rays of the sun against the distant clouds. That last bit of light faded as he watched, and finally the stars came out. The dog had crawled over and put it's head on his leg. Seren just sat still, watching and listening.

A young lady leans against a nearby tree, she watches the camp from her vantage point seeming undecided about something. There is a question playing through her eyes, a deep unyielding curiosity, but curiosity is dangerous in her line of work and so she watches in silence.
Finally, as the sun sinks below the horizon, she steps forward and sits silently beside the young man.
"Hello stranger,"
Her words were friendly, familiar though she had never met this man before. Her eyes remained forward and she made no effort to look at him when she spoke, yet she watched him with her peripheral vision, looking for the tell tale contracting muscles that were so often followed with a swift flash of metal.
"I do hate to interrupt your 'alone time', " she said the words like they meant something more, and a smirk flickered across her features before she continued. "But i've been away for a while now, and I dont believe we've met.."

Seren stayed still. Something in the girl's manner showed that it wasn't her intent to attack him. But neither had she revealed why she was there. He flicked his eyes at her, marking weapons, but paid no attention to any 'womanly charms' she showed off.
[just so you know, your character profile data is not available, so I had to be generic there]
"Seren." He said, after a lengthy pause. He shifted a bit, soundlessly telling the dog to go protect the girls.
Dog got up and shook himself. Glaring at the intruder, he stomped off to flop by the door to the girls' wagon.
A stirring from inside the wagon, and the door opened. Lena peered out.
"Seren?" She whispered. "Everything all right?"
Seren stood and crossed to her quickly, whispering something and shutting the door of the covered wagon after her. He turned sharply to look at the girl by the tree, keeping the wagon behind him as if to protect it.
[EDIT: I added a character description to all my characters. It lists hidden weapons, when I thought of it. I ... might ... have gone overboard on the knives hidden on Seren's body, but it suits his personality and his fighting style, so...]

"Careful now, Seren, you really shouldn't let strangers see your emotions" she paused before adding softly "or whats important to you." She eyed the caravan with curiosity.
"Anyway, I'm here for a treaty. This town will be mine again, and alliances are important. Can I call you 'friend'?" She lay down her dagger and sword as an offer of peace.

"You can call me whatever pleases you." Seren said in his soft way. "Make no mistake, it doesn't mean that I will trust you."
Johvan emerged from his tent and stood, scratching his copious belly, looking at the girl by the tree and the boy by the wagon. Since the nervous kid hadn't attacked and killed her yet, Johvan supposed she wasn't an active threat. Remembering his sleeping son, he tried to make his voice quiet and walked toward the stage-space. "Please pardon his rudeness. Seren trusts no-one, not even Lena." A sharp glance from Seren caused him to amend his statement. "Rather, he trusts her only. Makes for an excellent watchd-" He cut himself off and changed what he was intending to say, but Seren betrayed no change in expression. "...guard. Keeping that in mind, and also that I am the leader of this troupe, perhaps it would be more according to speak with me about treaties? If it is the boy you were after, don't bother - he follows only Lena, and Lena has chosen to make this caravan their home." He reached the platform and stopped, considering the visitor's appearance. "You would be more than welcome to join us in our travels, miss - you have an excellent figure and appear to be light on your feet - have you been a dancer in the past?"
During Johvan's speech, Seren had relaxed barely, crossing his arms and leaning back against the wagon. Inside, the waking and watchful girls listened carefully, but silently. Barott also had awoken and lay listening in his small tent - the master's voice, after all, had not been trained for quiet speech. Only the young boy Rishu still snored from the larger, distant tent.

Forgetting Seren as a lost cause, Aleka smiled broadly at the newcomer and rose slowly but gracefully to shake his hand.
"The name is Aleka. Its a pleasure to meet you, sir. Indeed I was a dancer, though it seems like a lifetime ago now. Im also an acrobat of sorts. Do forgive my intrusion at such a late hour, I didnt meant to disturb you all but you never do know who will try and kill you when you drop by to say 'hello'. Truth be told, I was curious, I may be a thiefe but I have a certain soft spot for performance...We're you serious about letting me perform with you?"

Johvan laughed heartily, shaking her hand firmly. "What is a performer if not a thief? We steal the heart of the audience, we steal the moon and the stars from the sky, we steal the light from women's eyes, why we even steal the show from each other! Now of course we'll have to work you into the choreography, so why don't we start rehearsing as soon as the sun is up. Until then - do you have a place to sleep for the night?"
Barott had come out from his tent and stood by Seren, the two silent men exchanging the guard. It had just passed mid-night, and there were only a few hours until the sun would rise again. His beady black eyes, buried in wrinkled skin, gleamed with the low light from his pipe as they darted toward any movement. His teeth glittered in the starlight as he grinned at some murmured comment from Seren, gripping the pipe strongly between his jaws and moustaches. But he said and did nothing.
Seren motioned to Aleka and jerked his head at his small, spartan tent. "Sleep there." It had been well-situated for his needs - off to the side of the camp, well away from the fire and the other tents, closer to the wagon where his Lena listened quietly. Inside were only a clean bedroll and pillow, and they were almost as austere as the tent itself, made of hide shaved so thin you could see the stars.
Barott refilled his pipe, knocking out the old ash with a sharp gesture almost dangerous, and lighting the new tobacco with a match that caught fire as it was drawn. He was still watching the new girl carefully.
