The main chamber was just as she remembered it...Almost.
The dirt walls, the table in front of the gilded gold throne, the busy atmosphere...these were all the same, but any semblance of order had long since been abandoned. The rich pillows that sat upon the bare dirt floor were worn and filthy from use, the tapestries and gold ornaments that had once lined the dirt walls were all missing now, probably sold for food or protection.
The street rats who frequented this place, once members of the thieves guard but now just squatters in what was once a great palace, went about their business ignoring those around them.
It saddened her to see her legacy in such a state, it was never supposed to come to this...
She paused by one of the main entry ways and watched the people around her for a time, before an incident caught her eye. A small boy at one of the far doors had been stopped by some larger men, they pushed him and yelled something about payment. For a second the room froze as everyone turned to watch, but just as quickly they continued with their day.
Only now did Aleka step into the room far enough to see the front of her once glorious throne, where a large ugly man sat, his feet hanging over the arms of the chair. He was no more than 23, and he was clearly as much a street rat as any other in this room, yet he sat there like he was superior to all.
Anger flicked through her and she pulled a dagger from her belt and silently stalked over to where he sat.
The cold steel of her blade pressed against the warm skin at his throat, and again the room froze though this time its business did not resume. All eyes were on this girl with a knife who dare pick a fight with the self proclaimed bandit king.
Aleka lowered her lips to the young mans ear and in a venomous tone, only just audible to the whole of the silent room she hissed
“You’re in my seat.”
