The outline of a door appeared, made of light, then the colors of the door appeared. None of the surrounding people noticed, the magic of the door making them unaware. The door opened, and Kaya and Link stepped into the crowd, and Kaya closed the door behind them. The color faded, a line of light outlined the door for a moment, and then it was gone.
"Hm." Said Link.
"It seems fate has decided to bring me here once again." Said Kaya.
"Can fate decide to bring me some food?" Asked Link.
"I think it can." Said Kaya. "I wonder if they use the same currency?" She turned and caught the hand of a would-be pickpocket, deftly taking his day's earnings from him and turning them over in her fingers. "It appears to be the same. You. How many fish would this buy?"
"Th-three, ma'am," said the child, startled and afraid. The woman's grip was like iron - strong and ice-cold. He couldn't keep the thoughts of iron shackles out of his mind.
"You're part fairy." She told him, giving him back his money. "Iron will be your death. Now run along, and try to find a different way to survive."
"Iron will be his death?" Link asked, his eyebrows raised, as the boy fled from the grim woman.
"I foresee that he will die by having his head cut off in a fearsome battle. Better that he thinks he'll die from being put in prison, though, and becomes a proper citizen."
"You've become morbid since we were last together."
"One of the consequences of being me, I suppose. Don't worry, it'll pass. We were getting food."
Link pointed over to a woman selling baguettes. "That smells good."
"Mmm, it sure does. And look over there, do you see that guy selling pork wings?"
"Pork wings?" Link asked, confused.
"They look like fowl wings, but they're pork."
Link looked. "You can tell that from here?"
Kaya grinned, her smile somehow - sharp. "I can tell a lot of things when I'm hungry."
"Alright! Bread, and pork, and then eating!"
"Oh, and we can't forget the 'tan potion'."
Link laughed heartily. "Yes, of course, we must get the 'tan potion'."
As it had been said, it was soon done, and the two made their way to the raised platform of the stocks to sit and eat.
"Look, Kaya, our salad awaits."
"You can eat it, if you want." The rotten cabbage was certainly less-than-appetizing.
"Heh, yeah, no thanks."
Kaya laughed.
